With three seasons under her belt, RuPaul only has one direction to take season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which premiered last night on LogoTV, “over the mother-f**king top!” For those of you who joined us at the Lobby Bar, Seattle’s official Logo-sponsored viewing party, you know it was standing room only! 13 queens, selected from all over the country, made their debut last night; and for those of you who’ve watched the show religiously, no Shangela is NOT in fact back this season (thank God, but at least the girl knows how to put a face on now)!
America’s next drag superstar…
Girls this season have their work cut out of them as they compete for the ultimate prize: a lifetime supply of Nyx Cosmetics (worth a FORTUNE if you ask me, when you think about how much a drag queen uses), a trip from Al & Chuck Travel (no specifics on where though), be the headliner of Logo’s Drag Race Tour sponsored by Absolut (which goes where again?), and a cash prize of $100,000!
This week’s mini-challenge: The RuPocalypse!
Joined again this season by celebrity photography Mike Ruiz, the queens had to keep composed for a photo shoot, each taking turns standing on a rotating pedestal, while the pit-crew sprayed them down with ‘toxic-waste’. You couldn’t help but chuckle as you watched the gals try and keep their balance! Some of the funnier moments were seeing Kenya’s mouth move like a trout during her shoot, and while a couple queens fell down, the cake-taker was watching shade-caster Willam frantically fumble to keep from hitting the deck.
The main challenge: The Post-RuPocalypse!
The girls encountered the zombies of seasons past at a rundown motel and fought for the goods they needed to make their main-stage strut gear; and then all the queens ate Shangela (a joke that I hope is as dead as she was in this episode). Welcoming back judges Michelle Visage and Santino Rice, RuPaul and Mike Ruiz also shared the judges panel with guest judge, and spooky expert, Elvira!

Chad Michaels (left) totally had the 'apocalyptic' look this week, reminded me so much of Milla Jovovich (right) from Resident Evil!
Some of the girls really brought it this week and insured that we’re in for an exciting season! From Latrice Royale’s ‘big girl sexy’ look, to the ‘infected Betsey Johnson’ look-a-like from Milan, and (my personal favorite) Chad Michaels’ visionary embodiment of Milla Jovovich from Resident Evil the girls proved creativity is a BIG party of this competition.
“Condragulations! Now sashay away…”

The best and worst of the week. Sharon Needles (top) wins this weeks main stage challenge and sends Alisa Summers (bottom) packing.
Ultimately, this week’s prize, a gown from SequinQueen.com and immunity from elimination next week, was snatched up by the Black Swan reminisce Sharon Needles; a shock-queen (which RPDR hasn’t had since season 1!) that was far from competition in the eyes of some of the fishy-queens. Up for elimination was Jiggly Caliente (who looked Nicki Minaj than apocalyptic) and Alisa Summers. Ru showed that body was far from what will win this title and sent Alisa home!
Coming up…
Next week’s episode teaser has gone live on Logo’s site and I’m drawing mixed feelings. While a guy like me sure has a fun time watching ripped boys toss each other around, it’ll be an adventure to see the response from the crowd when the queens take to the ring!
You can catch last night episode on LogoTV.com and see more episode’s Monday’s at 9PM on LogoTV. For those of you looking for a more social scene however, you can join Seattle’s official Logo-sponsored viewing party at The Lobby Bar, or join the crew of RPlace as they tune in at 9PM!
